Employment

We believe that paid employment is an opportunity for individuals to have a valued role. At Brockville and District Association for Community Involvement we have a lot of conversations about the “good things” in life and what those look like to individuals. When thinking about these great items a question that often arises is “how”? How do we afford this? And we often discuss with families the appropriateness of paid, gainful, meaningful work. What would this person like to do? Would we need to figure out a way to support this person to do this job? Is this fair pay? Is this a good fit?

Giving back to the community is part of citizenship and personhood and gives a sense of belonging. There are two ways we can do this; Volunteer work and Paid work. Paid work ensures that our physical needs such as food, clothing and shelter can be met, and just like volunteer work, can give a person the feeling of fulfillment.
We support individuals in what is needed to help someone become and maintain employability. We will then work with the individual and possibly other community supports to navigate into the workforce.
